After reading scores of entry forms, judges have selected the finalists who will be in the running for Rossendale Business Awards. This year 31 different businesses have been selected as finalists with four local business leaders contesting the title Enterprising Woman and the shortlist for Pride of Our Valley contains six candidates.
A total of 17 awards will be handed out at the presentation evening at The Riverside in Whitworth on Wednesday November 9. It is the seventh time the awards, organised by Valley at Work, which connects local businesses, has been held. Chair Rob Carder said: “The judges faced a very difficult decision because the standard of entries was very high this year. To become a finalist, three members of the judging panel have to select the entry for their shortlist. This year we had a total 238 individual nominations, 55 more than last year, and the new categories proved extremely popular.”
Of the finalists, nine companies have been named as a finalist in more than one category and four businesses, Tufties Hair and Beauty, The Dearden Tea Rooms, Flightdeck Experience and The Whittaker are finalists in three.
At the awards evening Veterans In Communities will be organising a raffle.
